Brockton Summer Fun

 By Jack Schwietz

There are a number of options if you are looking for a place to swim in the Brockton area.

The Easton town pool at 101 Lincoln St, in North Easton, is open during the summer months.

The Old Colony YMCA Brockton offers a community pool for people at 320 Main Street in Brockton.

There are also a number of lakes and state parks in the area to go hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and picnicking.

Lake Massapoag is a 353-acre natural spring-fed lake located in Sharon, Mass.

Kayla Raymond, a Stonehill College student, loves biking and swimming at Lake Massapoag during the summer.

“The lake is a great place to stay fit during the summer when the weather is super nice out. I go there often to swim laps and race with my teammates,” said Raymond.

Even though the lake is officially closed with no lifeguards on duty, anyone can still go swimming.

There are also several reservations a simple drive away.

Blue Hills Reservation in Milton has a variety of activities including a place to swim and mountain bike.

There are also several facilities on the reservation such as educational programs, museums, science centers, a pavilion, and historic sites as well. This reservation has so much to offer kids and families on a hot summer day.

“It is not a very challenging hike. It’s a perfect activity to do on a nice day and the view of Boston is very rewarding at the end of it,” Raymond said.

The hours are sunrise to sunset and it also includes free parking.

Some of the activities at this reservation are horseback riding, baseball, swimming, ice skating, wading pool among other things.

A swimming pool is also available during the summertime.

This reservation is also open year-round.
