If you want to keep your kid busy hitting home runs this summer, you may want to look into your local baseball program.
The Easton Youth Baseball Organization, located on Mahoney Road in North Easton, MA, opens its league up to the Brockton and Easton young athletes.
The organization's commissioner, Nate Crossman, said that he has created a group of coaches that will be successful in expanding baseball in the area by working with youngsters and getting them excited about the sport.
“It feels as if this generation of athletes has little to no interest in baseball,” Crossman said.
Crossman said that it is due to the pace of the game that has turned some young athletes toward the sport of lacrosse, but that could change.
He said the league shows kids all the aspects of the game while providing it in a fun environment.
Coach and president Harry Fitzpatrick said he was excited about working with the organization.
“It has been a humbling experience. Giving back to the sport that gave me so much is what pushed me towards having a role in the league,” Fitzpatrick said.
The league presents athletes with many different levels of the game. These range from a strictly instructional division all the way up to competitive levels that go to the age of 15.
